Stand or.....
13 Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].
14 Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God,
Ephesians 6:13-14 AMPC
Shalom everyone, this is the day the Lord has made, and yes, we get to live it!
One reason there are so many lost battles in the life of believers in Christ is due to a lack of preparation.
Take the military as an example, when a new soldier first takes possession of their primary weapon, they are not released to use their weapon.
First, they must learn how to properly use the weapon, how to maintain it etc.
Then the soldier is trained in the use of that weapon in different scenarios until their instructor feels confident the soldier is indeed trained and ready to safely and effectively use their weapon.
Another military example is soldiers aren't always fighting, sometimes they are camping, sometimes they are receiving teaching, training in new tactics, training in new weaponry, learning tactics of their enemy and so on.
As soldiers in the army of the Lord we must know when the Captain is calling for us to camp and rest, retrain, take care of our weapons and when He is breaking camp to lead us to His battles.
When we decide to take this upon ourselves our victories are few and often far between and we become little more than a mob.
In today's passage we see that we are to stand, after we have been prepared, then stand and continue to stand.
There is no such thing as a "strategic retreat" in the Bible.
We are often forced to retreat because we are either not following the Lord to His battle or we are not prepared to stand against our enemy.
Church history proves this and so does the Bible.
There is much more to this and reading Ephesians 6 will fill in some of the blanks.
Jesus is the Captain of Heaven's Armies, we must fight according to His plan!
