According to that verse, the East wind was responsible for the dividing of the sea and it happened 'all night' meaning that it took process and time to happen.
Also, the wall formed a wall for them on the right and on the left according to the text. Going by the texts, it was purely supernatural and can't be explained by natural phenomenon.
